On Saturday 15th of December, snow arrived for the first time this year in Holland. Exactly during the 100 Miles night rally! Different from other years, the rally was held in Rotterdam. After a cold drive to the starting location SS Rotterdam it was time for a warm coffee inside the Ocean liner. After inspection we took a water taxi to the Euromast and we enjoyed a nice dinner with an amazing view 185m up in the air. After the wonderful view from the Euromast and the water taxi back, the dark set in and the cars started at the docks of the SS Rotterdam. The temperature dropped but the adrenaline went up. The winter storm made it extra hard, which resulted in only 7 cars participating in the snowy Hill Climb. The day had it all: sun, wind, cold and of course snow. Stunning cars, lovely people and great sights.

A few days before Christmas, it was all about the 100 Miles of Amsterdam. This night rally is the event for drivers (and fans) of pre-war cars who like a bit more adventure. More than 50 pre-war cars gathered and after inspection the teams were ready to start from the Grote Markt in Haarlem. Until deep into the night all the drivers fought for the first place. The wet circumstances and cold tempratures did not help: only 16 out of the 36 participants in sporting class made it in time. The 2017 edition of the 100 Miles of Amsterdam was a real tough one.

The International Concours d’Élégance Paleis Het Loo was the center of the weekend. 70 beautiful classics battled for the title of ‘’Best of Show 2017’’. VSOC attended the concours class 70 years of Ferrari with a stunningly restored silver 1964 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso. Even though the weather was rainy a new visitor record was set at almost 28.000 visitors over two days. It was again a great weekend and we are very happy that the Ferrari we brought to the concours has won the Junior Award.

The Historic Grand Prix Zandvoort celebrated this year its fifth anniversary. Not only the FIA Masters Historic Formula One Championship was held, the program added this year also a championship for pre-war sports cars. A lot of unique cars showed up, including the 1982 Williams FW08 F1 world championship winning car driven by Keke Rosberg. It was again a spectacular weekend with a lot of races, demonstrations and of course the traditional parade.

VSOC attended the charity event Wings & Wheels at Gilze-Rijen Air Base. We had to get up early in the morning and went out with the 1965 Alfa Romeo 1600 Giulia GTA. It was a beautiful day to enjoy the most unique cars and aircrafts in a unique ambiance. The various demonstrations, including the spectacular air show, were certainly worth checking out.

Thanks to VSOC I had the opportunity to visit the 2015 Mille Miglia in Brescia, Italy. Great cars, great food and great people. A day before the start the team went to Aeroporto Militare Ghedi for a regularity test and we had a great lunch in the hangar between jet fighters. VSOC participated the Mille Miglia in a 1948 Stanguellini 1100 Berlinetta Bertone and the whole team finished the race succesfully.

The record breaking 12th edition of Top Marques Monaco was a great succes. The cars were not only shown at the Grimaldi Forum, the exibitors also had the unique possibility to offer test drives around the legendary Circuit de Monaco. This resulted in a lot of burned rubber and happy spectators. The atmosphere throughout the whole Principality was lovely during the event and at the end of the weekend a total value of sales was estimated over 200 million euros.

The State of Art Historic Zandvoort Trophy has been the first classic sportscar race weekend of the national season for years. During free practice and qualifying the weather looked unpromising, but after lunch the weather cleared up and a lot of cars competed for the first place.

Knokke-Heist, Place Albert de Knokke Le Zoute was the place to be during the 2013 Zoute Grand Prix. Bonhams held the first Zoute auction sale in this luxurious holiday resort on the Belgian seaside. I made a photo gallery of the 1st class condition Austin Healey which was presented at the auction. It was the first time my work was published in such a prominent auction catalogue. The interest in the auction was big and after the sales we had a nice dinner in Knokke.
